COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Columbus police are investigating the death of a six-week-old boy who was found unresponsive on Saturday.
According to police, the baby was sleeping with his dad and a 2-year-old when his dad noticed the baby was unresponsive. The 2-year-old was found on top of the infant when the dad noticed he was unresponsive. The dad then took the child to the hospital.
The baby boy was pronounced dead at 1:36 p.m. at St. Francis Hospital.
Police say they believe the death may have been accidental, but they can't confirm the causes of death until the autopsy results are revealed.
The body will be sent for an autopsy on Monday or Tuesday.
