LEE COUNTY, AL (WTVM) – A man is in custody and facing several charges following the death of a woman who was shot and killed on I-85 Monday morning.
Larry Moore, 21, of Toccoa, GA has been charged with murder and two counts of shooting into an occupied vehicle.
He is currently being held in the Lee County Detention Facility on a Fugitive from Justice Charge regarding a probation violation in the State of Georgia.
Moore is scheduled to be transferred to the Chambers County Jail on Tuesday to be booked on the charges arising from the early morning Monday shooting on I-85.
Lorena Dawn Leasure, 36, of Brunswick, GA was a passenger in a vehicle with three other occupants when she was allegedly shot by Moorem who was also one of the vehicle's occupants.
The warrants were issued in Chambers County, AL when during the course of the investigation it was discovered that the shooting took place just north of the Lee County line in Chambers County.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office continues as the lead investigative agency with assistance from Opelika Police, Alabama State Troopers, the Lee County Coroner's Office, the Chambers County Sheriff's Office, Valley Police and the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.
The Chambers County District Attorney's Office will present the case to a Chambers County grand jury at a future date.
