COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley had a large amount of assistance as they started to deliver school supplies Tuesday.
They gave out the supplies collected through the annual Stuff the Bus campaign.
Over the course of the campaign, more than 4,600 backpacks were collected to give to schools across the valley.
We spoke with Terri Parodi, director of the United Way Volunteer Center, who says it was a team effort to collect the supplies.
"We had 30 companies who were willing to collect school supplies within their organizations and the general public also collected school supplies, and we had volunteers who helped sort school supplies, helped pack the backpacks, and they are packed in boxes and today we will start our delivery to the schools," Parodi said.
Volunteers on hand to deliver the school supplies included UPS, Two Men and a Truck, Charbroil, and other trucking agencies.
