Smiths Station youth baseball team heading to World Series

SMITHS STATION, AL (WTVM) - Three's company at Smiths Station, as the 11-12 O-Zone boys become the third team from the city to prepare for the World Series.

"They're on a high right now... making it to the World Series," head coach Chris Cannon said.

They'll be looking to stay on that high when things start Saturday. They're also hoping to put Smiths Station youth baseball on the national map.
"It's pretty exciting. Just don't want to let Smiths Station down," infielder Gavin Blair said.
"We represent the state of Alabama. We're still going to wear our black, white and grey and represent the community so for them to represent where they live and their hometown is just huge for them," Cannon said.
Teamwork makes the dream work as they say, and this team's chemistry could help achieve their dream.
"It's a great group of young men," coach Cannon said. "They've just really gelled so I think it's that team chemistry."

His son Will Cannon agrees. He says they've all been friends since Kindergarten.
Above all else, Coach Cannon wants them to remember one thing: train like you fight and keep grinding until the moment happens.

We'll see if that moment will lead to a World Series Championship.
