LEE COUNTY, AL (WTVM) – Lee County Coroner Bill Harris confirmed that a woman was found dead at her Lee County home late Wednesday, and have charged a man with her murder.
Harris said that Mickie Chiffone Mack, 47, was found dead at her home, located on Lee Road 4 in Loachapoka, around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday following a 911 call.
Mack was found with multiple stab wounds and pronounced dead at the scene at 10:35 p.m.
The Lee Co. Sheriff's Office confirmed that they arrested Don Albert Smith, 49, of Auburn, with Mack's murder. He is being held at the Lee County Detention Center on $150,000 bond.
According to family members, Smith and Mack were dating at the time of this incident. Smith lived a few houses away from the victim's home where he was arrested. The motive for this homicide has not been determined but is still under investigation.
Mack's body has been taken to the medical examiner's office of the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for a postmortem examination.
The case is being treated as a homicide and remains under investigation by the Lee County Sheriff's Dept., Lee County Coroner, and the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.
