COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Keep Columbus Beautiful Commission, AFLAC, and Amerigroup are sponsoring a Back to School Teacher Supply Project.

Teachers will receive a reusable shopping bag filled with free supplies for their classrooms. AFLAC brought items that were given by employees.

Teachers were able pick up free supplies such as binders, copy paper, and staplers. Pamela Brown with AFLAC says this helps relieve a financial burden for educators.

AFLAC is a giving company. Keep Columbus beautiful is a part of our community. We partnered with them do this. Teachers have to dog into their own pockets to purchase supplies every year. This is a way to get some items for free,” said Pamela Brown with AFLAC.

It goes on until this afternoon at the Citizens Service Center. Organizers say they hope to make this teacher supply day bigger next year.
