COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Several organizations in the Valley teamed up on Saturday to collect used cooking grease and old or unwanted medications.
The event took place at both Kmart locations on Macon Road and Airport Thruway in Columbus.
Pouring cooking oil down the sink or flushing it down the toilet can create problems in the drain pipes of your home and also sewer lines.
"This event we have semi-annually twice a year January and august what we gather old or unused pharmaceuticals and we collect old cooking oil and cooking grease," Gwen Russell said, the program director.
The event was sponsored by the Columbus Water Works, Keep Columbus Beautiful Commission and the Muscogee County Sheriff's Office.
