UPDATE: Victim of fatal Harris Co. logging truck accident identified

HARRIS COUNTY, GA (WTVM) - The Harris County Sheriff's Office confirms that one person has died following an accident on Lick Skillet Road near GA 219 on Monday. 

The single-vehicle accident involved a log truck flew off the road and fell 35 feet down a cliff, according to a spokesperson with the Georgia State Patrol on the scene. 

The victim has been identified by the Harris County Coroner Joe Weldon as Theodore Story, 66. Story was from the Columbus, GA- Buena Vista, GA area. 

"Basically, we have a one-car, log truck tractor trailer crash.  The vehicle left the roadway and went off a 35-foot embankment," GSP Sgt. First Class Maurice Raines said. 

Georgia State Patrol is leading the investigation into the cause of the accident. 

Lick Skillet Road has since been reopened for drivers.
