Job opportunities coming to the Chattahoochee Valley

The Chattahoochee Valley has seen various employment opportunities pop up around the area within the past couple of weeks. 

These companies will be able to offer jobs to people in three major cities across the Valley. 

Between PharmaCentra and Concentra Solutions, Afni and Smoothie King, more than 200 jobs are being created in Opelika, Columbus and Americus.

“These companies have been here for a number of years. They started out in 2011 in the community with 70 jobs on a different site then moved over here in 14 and began expansions,” said Barbara Grogan, Executive Director of the Payroll and Development Authority in Sumter County. 

Just last week, PharmaCentra and Concentra Solutions announced they would officially be making their headquarters in Americus. 

On Monday 50 new employees began training and they plan to continue their hiring process with weekly or biweekly hire for training groups. 

“We have immediate openings for customer service representatives. Those are our agents that are on the phones, taking inbound calls as well as outbound calls. Those individuals should have a minimum of a high school diploma as well as customer service skills and basic typing and computer skills," said Kim Christmas, President of Human Resource and Community Relations for PharmaCentra and Concentra.

Along with the influx of jobs coming to Americus, there will 140 jobs up for grabs on Wednesday in Opelika.  Afni will be filling 140 positions for their Opelika call center at a job fair in a partnership with the Goodwill Career Center in Phenix City. 

“Particular for the underemployed who are looking for work. So it's always great to know that we have companies like Afni that will supply positions for people that are looking for jobs, and that is what Goodwill does is connect job seekers to work," said Bridgette Russell, Communications Specialist for Goodwill. 

Goodwill will also be hosting these job fairs in the future. 

Lastly in Columbus, two new Smoothie kings will be opening up in October bringing an additional 20 jobs to the Fountain City.  A

"We will be hiring 20 people leading up to our openings in mid-October," said a Smoothie King representative. "We are also currently looking for other real estate in the area to add even more Smoothie King locations."
