FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) – On Friday, a member of the Fort Benning Army Marksmanship Unit was targeting gold in the Summer Olympics.
Michael McPhail stepped up to the line and he came in as top 20.
He did not qualify for the second prone rifle competition earlier Friday morning. Only the top eight were selected.
This is McPhail's second summer Olympics where he's competed in the prone rifle competition.
Mcphail's last trip to the summer games ended in disappointment and McPhail finished ninth being eliminated in a shootout.
