COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Southeastern Remote Medical Training is partnering with PAWS Humane to host a Pet First Aid and CPR Class.
The class is intended for anyone interested in caring for their pet during an emergency.
According to the American Animal Hospital Association, one out of four more pets would survive if just one pet first aid technique was applied prior to getting emergency vet care.
Attendants will have the opportunity to practice hands-on skills with Casper, the CPR dog mannequin.
The course is presented through video, class skill practice, lecture and instructor-led discussion. It will take place Saturday, Aug. 20 from 1-4 p.m. at 4900 Milgen Road.
Each student will receive a Pet First Aid Course Completion Certificate and Digital Pet First Aid Manual.
The course fee is $50 with a portion of the proceeds benefitting PAWS Humane. Pre-registration is required and a $10 deposit is mandatory to reserve a seat.
"The class is taught by American Safety Health Institute Certified Instructors," said co-owner Hank Jackson. "For this class, topics include choking, snake bites, rescue breathing, muzzling, vital signs and more."
