COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A Columbus company recently stepped in to help local law enforcement.
Golden Foundry cooked a great lunch for Columbus police officers on Wednesday at the public safety building.
They served a total of 30 Boston butts, 80 pounds of chicken and several sides, all for free.
Ed Boyd, one of the owners of Golden Foundry, says the cookout just made sense for the community we live in.
"In looking at things that we could do, this made a lot of sense because of the way the world seems to be moving," Boyd said. "There's mixed communication about what the role of the police force is and the way they ought to be viewed by the community, it's real important."
The event was also a way to collect donations for the Columbus Special Olympics.
