COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Festivities for the seventh annual breast cancer awareness Paint the Town Pink event kicked off on Saturday.
The celebration of life survivor butterfly release, which took place at the Columbus Botanical Garden, focused on those who have journeyed through cancer.
The beautiful butterflies were released as a memorable and magical way of celebrating life. The program included survivor testimonies, a garden tour, and even live jazz.
"This is a celebration of life. This is for cancer survivors and cancer care takers those you journey through cancer those who have gone through a journey. We are just taking the opportunity to thank God for another day and given us life," said program chairperson Gloria Weston-Smart.
The fundraiser assists cancer patients in need with daily living expenses to help them maintain their quality of life while undergoing treatment.
