FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) -

Here’s your chance to celebrate local Olympians!

This Friday, Aug. 26, the public is invited to welcome home Fort Benning soldiers who were part of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU) at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

The celebration will also help send off another Fort Benning soldier who will compete in the Rio Paralympic Games Sept. 7-18, also in Brazil.

The ceremony takes place at USAMU’s Hook Range off Dixie Road on Fort Benning.

The Silver Wings Parachute Demonstration Team will jump onto the range at 8:45 a.m. to start the festivities, followed by a statement by Commanding General Major Gen. Eric J. Wesley, Maneuver Center of Excellence, and a USAMU Shotgun Team demonstration.

The event is free and open to the public.
