CUSSETA, GA (WTVM) – A water main break in Chattahoochee County has caused widespread outages across Chattahoochee County, and residents have spent the past few days without water.

A representative with the Chattahoochee County Public Works Office says the city has been without service because of a water main break caused by lightning around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The main break, with caused a loss of more than 300,000 gallons of water and the loss of one of the four total water tanks in Cusseta, was repaired around 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

Despite the repair, low-water pressure still has certain areas of town without water. Areas currently without water are:

  • Hwy. 26
  • Liberty Hill Rd.
  • Fire Tower Rd.
  • and side streets near these main roads

The Chattahoochee County Public Works Office says residents should have service soon., but no actual estimated time of a full-service return was given.

Chattahoochee County Public Works is also issuing a boil water advisory until further notice. The office is also offering to fill water jugs to residents who need water. Jugs can also be taken to the recreation center 127 Industrial Blvd., which closes at 7 p.m.
