PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - A gathering at the Riverfront campus of Troy University on Thursday evening was every entrepreneur's dream.
RiverCity Foundry's "Live Launch" gave eight startup businesses the opportunity to pitch their ideas, products and business plans to a room full of investors.
Some of the innovative products that were pitched were Agroponics, FanBrella, Discgo, Slumberpod and Intellishots.
The event is being dubbed the Phenix City "Shark Tank."
"It's similar to Shark Tank in that the teams are going to be pitching their ideas to investors. It is a little different than Shark Tank as behind this there is an accelerator program that we've been helping these teams along for the last eight weeks," said David Hehman Co-founder of RiverCity Foundry.
The eight startups all went through a vigorous eight-week Summer Boot camp in advance of Thursday's live launch.
The RiverCity Foundry is a public/private economic development partnership for the greater Chattahoochee Valley region designed to create high-impact startups and sustainable jobs for the entire region.
