COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

A Columbus teenager has died after he was hit by a vehicle early Sunday morning on River Road at Bradley Park Drive.

Justin Patrick Johanson, 15, was pronounced dead at 4 a.m. by Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan, who said the cause of death was blunt force trauma.

Officials say Johanson was lying in the road when he was struck, and by the time the driver saw him, it was too late to stop.

After the accident, the driver got out of the car and called authorities.

Johanson, also known as “JP,” attended Northside High School.

His body will be sent to Atlanta for an autopsy. A toxicology report will also be conducted as well.
