Phenix City man arrested on meth possession charges after allegedly attacking officer

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

A Phenix City man has been arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and for allegedly attacking a Columbus police officer. 

The incident happened Saturday, Sept. 3 at the intersection of Manchester Expressway and 2nd Avenue in Columbus. 

Harold W. George, 41, is charged with two counts of obstruction of an officer, possession of methamphetamine with attempt to distribute, no proof of insurance, and no state tag.   

According to police reports, George grabbed the officer by the throat, pushed him, and punched the officer multiple times. 

The officer found two bags containing 3.6 grams of methamphetamine valued at $360, and $260 in cash.
