OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) - Opelika police announced that they've arrested a suspect in a 2015 shooting that injured two people.

On Sept. 4, 2015, OPD responded to a call at the Crestview Trailer Park, located on Waverly Parkway, where two people were found with multiple gunshot wounds. Both victims recovered from their injuries.

Yonis Francis Monge, 47, was later identified as a suspect and charged with two counts of attempted murder. Monge fled the scene after the shooting and was believed to have fled to his native Mexico.

For the past year, Opelika Police has been working with the U.S. Marshal Service to locate Monge.

The U.S. Marshal Violent Offender Task Force from the LaFayette, LA Division, located and arrested Monge on Sept. 8 at approximately 4:55 a.m. in LaFayette, LA.

Monge will be extradited back to Alabama to stand trial.
