COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Students and staff at East Columbus Magnet Academy presented a check to the American Red Cross for Louisiana flood victims.
The student council sponsored a dance asking for donations and collected a total of $1,000.
Students were eager to donate and teachers were happy to see students come out.
Seventh grader Vincent Jones II says, "It was great to see all the student pay to have fun and know they are helping the people in need, which was amazing."
East Columbus Magnet Academy Principal Tamura Magwood says, "We strive to instill and promote selflessness and empathy for those who may be victims of circumstances beyond their control."
The check presentation was held at an open house Thursday night at the school.
