Golf course hosts "Help the Hooch" tournament

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – One local golf course held a special tournament to benefit one of the Chattahoochee Valley's greatest and most treasured resources.

The "Help the Hooch" tournament at Bull Creek Golf Course in Midland featured a 4-person scramble tournament with all proceeds going to support the cleanup and maintenance of the Chattahoochee River.

Organizers spoke about the historical significance of the river in our area.

Help the Hooch chairperson Tannis Danley says, "The Chattahoochee River is one of our greatest aspects for the area. Always been an important to the city wither there was barges moving freight up and down the river or water coming out of it to drink."

The event featured prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, as well as closest to the pin, longest drive, and a $15,000 cash hole in one prize.

Money raised will go towards a river cleanup event on October 1.
