MUSCOGEE COUNTY, GA (WTVM) - Police and first responders are on the scene of an accident near County Line Road and Manchester Expressway on Monday afternoon.

The victim was in the car and had a collision with an 18-wheeler. Officials say 55-year-old Flint Eugene Sharpe, of Smiths Station, AL, died from blunt force trauma. A toxicology report is pending.

The accident happened around 1 p.m. on Monday.

According to the accident report from the Columbus Police Department, the car driven by Sharpe was traveling south on Manchester Expressway when it crossed the grass median and began traveling south on Manchester Expressway NB when it collided head-on with an 18-wheeler.

The 18-wheeler attempted to stop before the crash, skidding 170 feet prior to collision with Sharpe's vehicle, and veered to the left before the crash. The truck stopped after hitting several trees and brush on the west side of Manchester Expressway.

A third vehicle was struck by debris following the accident and sustained some damage, according to the report. The driver and passengers of the additional vehicles did not report any injuries after the wreck.

The report says that there were only additional occupants in the third car, and not in the vehicle with Sharpe.
