PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - It's been one year since a Columbus State University freshman's death allegedly at the hand of her ex-boyfriend.
On Wednesday night, a host of family members, friends and acquaintances gathered in Phenix City for a candlelight vigil for Mariah Farrow.
The 19-year old was gunned down on 16th Street in Phenix City last year.
Mariah's father Zachary Farrow spoke to the crowd about his daughter and specifically talked to the younger people there about domestic relationships in the wake of Mariah's tragic death.
"I can always say that anybody going through this situation, there's going to be many ways you're going to have to try to find a cope to this. I haven't really coped with it, but I'm trying to find ways, it's hard," said Farrow.
Farrow's ex-boyfriend Demetrius Dorsey, 18, was arrested last year and charged with her murder. A nonprofit foundation is also in the process of being set up in Mariah's memory.
