FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) - The United States Army Infantry School on Fort Benning had a change of responsibility on Monday.
Command Sergeant Major Wilbert Engram Jr. turned over his responsibilities to Command Sergeant Major John A. Brady, who will now have the duties of the infantry school command.
The ceremony was held at the Derby Auditorium at McGinnis-Wickam Hall.
The infantry school trains infantrymen for service in the United States Army, and Command Sgt. Maj. Engram Jr. says one the things he is proudest of is the work that has been to integrate women into the infantry.
"In February 2017 we will have 47 females who will attend infantry school," Command Sgt. Maj. Engram Jr. said. "That will be very different. I am also excited about that we also have female drill sergeants who are teaching infantrymen. We have 12 of those here now."
Command Sgt. Maj. Engram Jr.'s next assignment will be in Fort Bliss, TX. He joined the Army in August 1986.
