FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) - At Fort Benning, the medical staff at Martin Army Community Hospital and soldiers with the 14th Combat Support Hospital trained at the mobile operating room.
This facility was set up in the parking lot of the old Martin Army Hospital location.
The mobile operating room can be set up in harsh environments while also providing the same sterile and hygiene standards as a hospital.
The exercise is designed to provide Army medical personnel a chance to perfect their medical skills.
"This capability that we see here can go anywhere in the world and provide that surgical care of the hot and lights cold steel of a surgeon, who can service any wound that a First Aid kit can't get to," said Colonel Cory Costello, commander of the 14th Combat Support Hospital.
The mobile operating room can go anywhere in the world to provide medical care.
