Changes are coming to local law enforcement agency as Columbus State University announced its police chief will be leaving by the end of next month.

CSU officials say Chief Rus Drew is leaving to become Chief of Police for Emory University beginning Nov. 1.

The school's president released the following statement, wishing Chief Drew well:

"It is with very mixed feelings that I let you know that University Police Chief Rus Drew will be leaving CSU next month. He was recruited to be the chief of police at Emory University, where he will start Nov. 1. This is an incredible opportunity for Rus, and we wish him well, but he will be greatly missed at Columbus State. He is respected around the state for his expertise and his style, and we're very fortunate to have had him here for 10 years."

Major Mark Lott, who has been at CSU for 10 years, has agreed to serve as interim chief.
