COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Plans are moving forward to build a new high school in Columbus.
The Muscogee County School Board passed a plan Tuesday night to the put the new Spencer High construction project on a fast track.
That means the construction manager can now start receiving bids for the work. The project will cost $56 million and is being paid for by the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax or SPLOST renewed by voters last fall.
The School Board vote Tuesday also included renovations at Shaw High School.
In other action, the board confirmed John Lyles as the new Director of Transportation and approved the purchase of a new school bus transportation routing system.
