PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - The Phenix City Police Department released details on an incident that involved officials searching for a suspect that fled near two schools on Friday.

Around 9 a.m. on Friday, a PCPD patrol officer attempted to stop a red Ford F-150 for speeding on Summerville Road. The driver turned on Fletcher Drive and police said jumped from the truck, crossed Summerville Road and fled into a nearby wooded area.

Law enforcement officers searched the area and did not locate the suspect.

PCPD then advised Phenix City Schools to recommend advanced security measures to two nearby schools, Lakewood Primary School and Lakewood Elementary Schools because of the proximity of the search. There was no threat to the schools or any indication that the suspect was going to the schools.

Police believe the suspect left the area in another vehicle and the all-clear has been given to the area.

No one was injured in this incident. Police indicated that there was property damage to two homes on Fletcher Drive caused by the truck running into the property.

PCPD says they will provide updates when they are available.
