Two arrested in death of taxi cab driver

OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) – Two men have been arrested in the murder of 67-year-old William Lewis Foreman.

Opelika Police arrested 25-year-old Marquavious Tirrell Howard and 25-year-old Martez Anthony Simmons, both from Opelika. They both face murder, first degree robbery and first degree theft charges.

A $400,000 bond has been set for both men.The investigation is continuing and charges are expected to be upgraded to capital murder.

William L. Foreman was reported missing to Opelika Police on August 30th after officers with the Columbus Police Department located his burned out van in Columbus.

Foreman’s body was found on the morning of Aug. 31 near the intersection of Lee Rd. 401 and Lee Rd. 170 in the Salem area.

The initial investigation indicated that Foreman had suffered a gunshot wound to the head.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to contact the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at 334-7155.
