PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - Tuesday was a big day for Central linebacker Markail Benton.
The senior received his Under Armour All-America game jersey in a ceremony at the school's cafeteria.
Benton was selected to play in the prestigious high school all-star game earlier this year. He joins the likes of AJ Green and Julio Jones as players in the postseason high school showcase.
Former teammate John Broussard made the big game last season.
Now it's Benton's turn to show off his skills on the big stage.
"It's a wonderful feeling," Benton said. "Anything a kid could ask for is right here and a dream to be a part of the Under-Armour All-America game."
He looks forward to representing Phenix City on the big stage as well.
"To represent my hometown is an amazing feeling. I thank everybody that has helped me out thus far," Benton said.
It's a good week for Benton. Monday, he was selected for the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game as well.
Kickoff for the Under Armour All-America game is set for New Year's Day, Jan. 1, 2017, at 1 p.m. Eastern.
