Georgia Military College State Service Cadets deployed for Hurricane Matthew

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

On Thursday, Oct. 6 the Georgia National Guard activated 10 State Service Cadets currently attending GMC.

At the moment, GMC has 53 State Service Cadets out of a total program of 262.

These cadets are members of the 48th Brigade who have been called upon to support Hurricane Matthew operations.

The following cadets have been deployed with their units to help with Hurricane Matthew:

  • Khalil Morell from Stone Mountain
  • Tristian Swann from Social Circle
  • Amanda Terry from Columbus,
  • Kody Roberson from Hazlehurst
  • William Harris from McDonough
  • Logan Rhodes from Covington
  • Ricardo Caupio from Fairburn
  • Justin Harris from Gray
  • Herston Hall from Jackson
  • Alexis Marroquin from Carrollton

Other cadets at GMC may still be called upon to support this operation to include 4th Battalion Commander Alex Garvin of Midway.

Garvin’s grandparents, Martha and Bobby Alvin, evacuated from their home near Savannah with the help of their grandson.

Garvin paid for his grandparents to stay in a hotel just 10-minutes away from GMC’s Milledgeville campus.
