Columbus City Council vote removes fee from RiverCenter parking deck

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - In a post to their Facebook page, Uptown Columbus, Inc. says the Columbus City Council voted to remove fees from a downtown parking deck on Tuesday. 

The vote concluded that the $2 fee will be removed from the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts Center parking deck. 

"A huge THANK YOU to the Columbus Consolidated Government and the City Council members for removing the parking fee at the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts deck and providing Uptown Columbus the opportunity to move forward on a parking campaign," the Facebook post said. "Big, progressive thinking here!"

According to a presentation shown at the council meeting on Tuesday, the RiverCenter parking deck has 685 spaces. So see the full presentation, click here

It is unclear when the changes will take effect.
