AUBURN, AL (WTVM) – Auburn police made an arrest Wednesday morning in connection to the pedestrian that died following a hit-and-run located on Shelton Mill Road on Thursday, Oct. 6.
Nicholas Osceola Dean Lawhon, 24, from Auburn, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving a death, which is a Class C felony under Alabama state law.
The pedestrian, a 28-year-old Hispanic man, died as a result of injuries he sustained in the incident. A non-government issued ID found on his person displayed the attached photo as well as the name of Felipe Pablo Domingo.
The driver fled the scene prior to police arriving. The suspect and his vehicle were located by Auburn Police and Lawhon was identified as the individual responsible for striking the victim and leaving the scene.
The Auburn Police Division also seeks the public's assistance in locating friends, family next of kin, or an employer of the 28-year-old male victim.
An investigation is ongoing as to a confirmation of the identity of the victim.
