Pedestrian dies after struck by vehicle on S. College St. in Auburn

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

Auburn police say a 51-year-old man from Auburn has died in an accident along South College Street.

Officials say the man was crossing South College Street near Harmon Drive and was hit by an SUV around 7:40 p.m. CDT.

He was taken to the East Alabama Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 8:18 p.m. 

His name has not been released at this time pending notification of next of kin. The driver of the SUV, a 33-year-old male from Auburn, remained at the scene and was there when police arrived.

The accident remains under investigation by Auburn Police; no criminal charges are anticipated.    

This is also the second time in less than a week that an accident involving a pedestrian has occurred in Auburn.
