FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) - Family and Friends bid farewell to 40 soldiers Friday morning.
The 14th Combat Support Hospital had a departure ceremony at Fort Benning. These men and women are leaving for a nine-month deployment to Kosovo.
They'll provide health service support in the form of essential and preventive care to NATO forces operating within the area.
"We will be gone for 10 total months, and 9 months will be spent in Kosovo," said 1st Lt. Marjorie Lutz. "We will spend several weeks in Germany for a validation exercise. This is the first deployment for a lot of our soldiers. Care Packages are obviously gonna be a favorite- especially around Christmas and what not. We do expect and know that our families members and even The CSH are gonna be able to support us."
Among many missions, the 14th Combat support hospital supported efforts in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina.
