COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Muscogee County Chief Deputy Coroner Freeman Worley has identified the victim of an accident on I-185 Northbound just south of the J.R. Allen Parkway exit on Sunday, Oct. 16 around 1:30 a.m.

Meghann Smith, 24, of LaGrange was killed in the early morning accident. Her mother said she was one week away from getting married.

The multi-vehicle accident caused police to close the northbound lane of I-185, while limiting the traffic headed southbound.

Traffic on I-185 Northbound is being diverted off to Airport Thruway where the accident happened, and traffic is backed up before the Manchester Expressway exit.

At least four people were transported to Midtown Medical Center following the accident. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

Families on scene were asked to leave the highway and go to Midtown Medical center where the victims of the accident were transported.

This is a developing story; check back for more updates.
