2 woman enter guilty pleas in connection to 2014 deadly armed robbery in Columbus

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Two women who were involved in a 2014 deadly armed robbery of a Columbus man did not withdraw their guilty pleas on Thursday and were both formally sentenced. 

Denisha Kelly and Candice Bryant both appeared in court on Thursday. Kelley, Bryant, and five others were arrested in connection with the armed robbery and shooting death of Lacosta Williams, 33, at Booker T. Washington apartments in Columbus on Oct. 27, 2014. 

Both women were given the opportunity to withdraw guilty pleas on the criminal attempt to commit a felony charge by Judge Rumer as an opportunity to a jury trial. They both declined to withdraw guilty pleas. The defense attorneys for Bryant is also requesting non-banishment from Muscogee County 

Kelly pled guilty to count 5, criminal attempt to commit a felony to distribute drugs, and will serve five years, with 350 days to serve in prison and the rest serving probation. The judge also granted the defense's request of non-banishment

Bryant pled guilty to drug violation in a public housing authority sentence 5 years and the balance of her sentence will be on probation. Her sentence also concludes that she can be searched by a law enforcement officer if given cause and reason to believe she is involved in criminal activity.
