COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Students from rival high schools are teaming up to remember a former basketball coach.

Flint Sharpe, who used to coach at Glenwood Academy, was killed last month in a car crash on Manchester Expressway in Columbus last month.

Students from Lee Scott Academy raised money in his memory and presented the donation to his family at Glenwood during chapel service Thursday morning.

After the ceremony, Flint Sharpe’s wife and daughter thanked the senior class and spoke about how the family is coping with the loss of their loved one.

“When there's adversity in something that's great and huge as this, you've got to shine your light more and you've got to get out there and be uncomfortable, and do things that you wouldn't normally do,” said his widow Lee Sharpe.

Sharpe coached football, baseball and basketball at Glenwood in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s.

The money will go towards his church basketball team.
