COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – The Columbus police officer who was shot Friday afternoon on Hilton Ave. has been identified, according to a police report.

McQuien was wearing a bulletproof vest at the time and the bullet did not penetrate his body. He was sent to the hospital. He was later released and will make a full recovery.

McQuien posted to Facebook Saturday morning reflecting on the scary situation Friday afternoon.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their outpouring of love and support! God was definitely watching over me yesterday...and I don't say that lightly because any little difference in anything at the time could have been a whole different story.
