COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - If you have a pair of old shoes you're trying to get rid of, Keep Columbus Beautiful wants you to bring them in as donations for its 2016 shoe recycling campaign.
Keep Columbus Beautiful says each year more than 350 million pairs are tossed in landfills. Many of those shoes take up to 80 years to decompose.
The organization plans to turn shoes from landfills into use by restoring them and sending them to undeveloped countries.
Tuesday's donations will be collected The Columbus Consolidated Government recycling center on Pine Grove Way until 2 p.m.
In addition to donating at the CCG Recycling Center, you can drop shoes off at any K-Mart in Columbus.
