Steel company to hire 20 employees following relocation to Columbus

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Hammett Steel, LLC, a fabricator of structural and miscellaneous steel, has announced its new facility in Columbus.

The company plans to employ more than 20 team members. The 184,000 square-foot building is located at 1724 Northside Industrial Boulevard and will allow the company to grow its business of providing steel for industrial, commercial, and residential applications.

Hammett Steel will relocate from its existing 30,000 square-foot facilities on Lakewood Drive in Phenix City where it already employs 18 team members.

"We were outgrowing our current location in Phenix City and evaluated several options," said Scott Boutwell, partner in Hammett Steel. "This new location in Columbus will allow us to expand our production capacities immediately while we continue to focus on growing our business."

"One of our main priorities is to assist existing companies to achieve success," said Brian Anderson, president and CEO of the Greater Columbus Georgia Chamber of Commerce. "By taking time to understand Hammett Steel's business, our team was able to provide the company access to valuable resources and guidance that will keep them firmly planted in the Columbus region.
