COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

The public was given a chance to see how a local organization is helping teens recover from substance abuse.

New Horizons Behavioral Health invited the community for an open house to learn about "Project Change Club House."

The group says this program provides support for recovery in ways traditional treatment programs cannot.

The director of the program says it's all about educating the youth about who to turn to in times of need.

“Children think they need drugs and alcohol to have a good time and that is not the way it is supposed to be,” said director Anthony Morris. “This program is going pull them into a different mindset. It is going to give them alternative to doing drugs and alternative to hang out with the wrong crowd.”

The group says all young people with substance use disorders are welcome.

To sign your child up for the clubhouse, just stop by the main officer on Comer Avenue to schedule an appointment.
