COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Big Brothers, Big Sisters of the Chattahoochee Valley is recruiting hard this fall to find mentors for the kids in their program.

The group kicked off their 90 Mentors In 90 Days initiative on Oct. 1, which aims to match more mentors with kids.

Due to the high demand of mentors with the organization, there is a waiting list for the kids to be paired with a big brother or sister.

Ninety percent of the kids in need of a mentor are boys, so they are focusing on men.

They've gone to different places in the community such as Loco's, Tropical Smoothies, and Market Days on Broadway. Next, they will be at Buffalo Wild Wings.

“It's a wonderful thing to give back and especially it's a wonderful thing to give back to another person and a child and really have an impact,” said Meredith Peasant, volunteer recruitment specialist. “It’s another way to say a legacy is being left for someone who's coming behind and really you know not everyone has the opportunity.”
