COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Paying it forward— after hearing about a man's need of a Halloween costume, a father and daughter got the Columbus Fire Department to help them out in a big way.
Jeffrey Chafin, a man with microcephaly, a rare nervous system disorder, has worked at Country's BBQ for over 23 years. He needed a Halloween costume for the businesses annual dress up day.
Bethany Blaxton called on her father, Mark, to help the Country's busboy so he too could dress up.
Blaxton knew that Jeffrey always wanted to be a fireman so her father made a call to a friend at the Columbus Fire Department.
The friend got one of his supervisors to pull a few strings to help the man. After a few minutes of hearing Jeffrey's inspirational story, they decided to go above and beyond the call of service.
CFD decided to donate an entire fireman outfit to the dedicated Country's employee.
Mark and his daughter had the privilege of presenting Jeffrey with his outfit Friday afternoon and Jeffrey's reaction was priceless as it was all caught on camera!
You can further help Jeffrey out by going to Country's BBQ on Mercury Dr. Monday and vote for him in their costume contest. After all, it's all about paying it forward in life and helping others.
