MUSCOGEE COUNTY, GA (WTVM) - The Muscogee County Sheriff's Office honored not one but two Deputies of the Year for 2016.
Deputies Ryan Early and Christopher Toelle were recognized Monday at the Columbus Government Center for their heroism during an August house fire.
The deputies were patrolling an area of Crystal Drive when they noticed a mobile home on fire.
They were able to pull an elderly woman inside to safety and went back and rescued her two small dogs as well.
Both deputies were very humble about being called heroes.
"This is something we sign up for," said Deputy Early. "Any time I see somebody, whether it's a house fire or a broke down car, I am going to help you."
"Just another day, I feel like it is just something anyone in my position would have done," added Deputy Toelle.
Additionally, Andrea McFolley was recognized at the ceremony as the Non-Sworn Employee of the Year for her work behind the scenes at the sheriff's office.
