Oreo voluntarily recalls fudge creme products due to milk allergy

(WTVM) – The company Mondelez Global, LLC announced a nationwide recall in the U.S. of certain Oreo Fudge Creme products including original and mint varieties, due to milk allergen not being on the ingredient list.

The company is taking this action out of an abundance of caution. Consumers may be informed about the potential presence of milk by an allergen advisory statement included on the label that stated, "Manufactured on equipment that processes milk."

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product, according to a statement released in the recall notice.

This recall is limited exclusively to this Oreo Fudge Cremes product, original and mint varieties, and no other products are included in this recall.

One report of an allergic reaction has been received and this recall is a result of analysis conducted by the FDA related to the product.

Oreo fudge cremes, original variety:
  • Retail UPC: 044000026943 and “best when used by dates” Aug. 19. 2016, Aug. 20, 2016, Sept. 14, 2016, Oct. 13, 2016, Oct. 14, 2016, Oct. 17, 2016.
Oreo fudge cremes, mint variety:
  • Retail UPC: 044000026967 and “best when used by dates” Aug. 20, 2016, Aug. 21, 2016, Sept. 14, 2016, Sept. 15, 2016, Sept. 16, 2016, Oct. 17, 2016 and Oct. 18, 2016.
