LEE COUNTY, AL (WTVM) - A truck caught on fire Tuesday afternoon on U.S. Hwy. 280 West in Lee County close to AL 147.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency says the tractor trailer fire also caught the grass on fire in the area.

First responders say the driver of the truck, which was hauling fruit, noticed flames near her rear tire. She pulled over to extinguish them but was unable to put the fire out.

Officials also say there was a small explosion after the driver dialed 911. Alabama troopers say traffic has been moving well through the area after the eastbound and westbound lanes of Highway 280 were closed for clean-up.

Details are limited at this time. Check back for more updates.
