COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A Columbus man faces kidnapping and aggravated assault charges after a brief police chase on Monday night.
Police say they observed a mother and her two children trying to exit Alandus Nevilles car at I-185 and Macon Road.
Officers say when they told Nevilles to allow the mother and the kids to exit safely, he sped off, nearly running them over and with the other child still in the backseat.
Officers say it appears he was mentally unstable and after a brief chase through several red lights, he pulled into his home on Schomburg road where he was taken into custody.
He was taken to the Muscogee County Jail and charged with kidnapping, reckless driving, fleeing or attempting to elude police and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
During his first court appearance, Nevilles' case was bound over to Superior Court.
