COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Georgia Supreme Court has reversed the felony murder conviction and life prison sentence given to a Muscogee County woman accused of intentionally starving her 7-month-old baby girl to death.
In a unanimous decision, the court overturned the 2013 conviction of Jessica Shah.
It was said that the trial judge erred by refusing her attorney's request to instruct jurors that they could also decide whether Shah was guilty instead of reckless conduct, a less serious charge.
As a result, they ruled that Shah is entitled to a new trial.
