(WTVM) – Veterans Day is held each year on Nov. 11 to honor military for their service in the United States.

To show appreciation to the military, businesses are offering deals on Veterans Day. Please call ahead to each retailer and restaurant to make sure they are participating in each deal. 

Check out the list of deals that are being offered to military with proof of an ID:

  • Olive Garden will offer a free entrée from a special menu
  • Wild Wing Cafe is letting veterans eat free all day on Nov. 11 with valid proof of service. The special is dine-in only and some restrictions may apply. 
  • Longhorn Steakhouse will offer a free appetizer or dessert and they will offer a 10 percent off for guests who dine with veterans
  • Chipotle will offer a buy one get one free discount for a small burrito, bowl, or salad on Veterans Day from 3 p.m. to close. Offer is extended to all veterans, military and military spouses with proof of service.
  • Golden Corral will offer a free sit-in dinner on Nov. 14
  • Hooters will offer a free meal for all military
  • O’Charley’s will offer a free meal to all military
  • Applebee’s will offer a free meal from a limited menu
  • Arby’s will give away one free roast beef classic sandwich
  • Bonefish Grill offers free Bang Bang Shrimp
  • Buffalo Wild Wings will offer one free small order of wings and a side of fries
  • To celebrate Veteran’s Day, Friday, November 11, Texas Roadhouse is offering a free meal to all military service men and women. Event details below. If you would like to talk to local veterans and find out how they are spending their special day please feel free to stop by Texas Roadhouse on Veteran’s Day. Let us know if you have any questions.
  • Publix will offer a 10 percent discount to veterans, military personnel and family members with military ID. 
  • Zoe's Kitchen will serve a free entree for anyone who has served or is serving in the armed forces. Please present your military ID or DD214. Limit one offer per veteran. No cash back. Not valid with any other offers. 
  • Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews: All veterans and active duty military get a free Red’s Tavern Double Burger and bottomless steak fries at participating restaurants nationwide. Red Robin is also donating $10,000 to United Service Organizations.
  • Goo Goo 3 Minute Express Wash will give a complimentary $6 car wash to veterans at their Columbus locations from 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10. Veterans will only need to inform Goo Goo verbally that they are veterans to receive their free car wash.

  • To thank veterans, active-duty military and reservists, Red Lobster will offer a free appetizer or dessert with a valid military ID on Nov. 10 and 11.
    • Guests may choose their free appetizer or dessert from a special menu that includes:

        • Sweet Chili Shrimp
        • Mozzarella Cheesesticks
        • Parrot Isle Jumbo Coconut Shrimp
        • Seafood-Stuffed Mushrooms
        • Lobster and Langostino Pizza
        • Signature Shrimp Cocktail

Here is the list of Veterans Day events happening in the Chattahoochee Valley: 

  • The City of Opelika will have a morning of activities, including a special breakfast for vets and their families at the Irish Bred Pub in downtown Opelika. The breakfast is free, but a $5 donation will be taken and donated to the Wounded Warrior Project for Alabama Veterans. At 10 a.m. a special Veterans Day Service will take place at the Veterans Memorial Monument at City Hall, featuring special Guest Speaker, Alabama’s Adjutant General of the National Guard, Major General Perry Smith. (If it is raining the services will be inside City Hall in the City Council Chambers). 

Here is a list of Veterans Day closures across the Chattahoochee Valley: 

  • All Opelika City Offices will be closed on Friday, Nov.11 except for Lewis Cooper Jr. Memorial Library and The Opelika SportsPlex. Those two facilities will be open: the Library, for “regular hours”- the SportsPlex, from 5 a.m. to Noon. Garbage Schedules for the week: Because Veterans Day falls on a FRIDAY, ALL GARBAGE SCHEDULES – including the Recycling Schedules – will run on their regular schedules.

  • From the city of Columbus: Notice is hereby given that the local Government of Columbus will alter or suspend all services on Friday, Nov.11, 2016. This is with the exception of emergency services such as fire, police, and ambulance. For emergency services, please call the 911 Emergency Center.
